Pinchbeck Watches & Tanner Bates Watch Straps - A Perfect Combination

Not just another watch strap

Every new Harold Pinchbeck watch is delivered with a card bearing the initials of the watchmaker who crafted it. Equally remarkably, we include a card from Tanner Bates in Devon, signed by the man who made it. We love these personal details, and we know that many of our Customers appreciate them too.

We have been fitting these superb straps for years: no other watchmaker fits them as standard.

Handmade Leather Watch Strap England

Here at the workshop t’s always a pleasure to open a Tanner Bates parcel. The presentation is beautiful, with each strap carefully wrapped in tissue. Such fine tanned hide has a wonderful aroma (think of the interior of a Rolls-Royce). There’s a particular joy in handling leather of this quality, and in looking at the hand stitching, whether it matches the leather or contrasts with it (the stitching is key, as no glue is used).

Like all Tanner Bates’s products, they are traditionally made, with great attention to detail. It’s only when we place them close together that we’re aware that no two straps are precisely identical, a hallmark of their individual craftsmanship.

Watchstraps of this quality mature beautifully and take on an attractive patina: if looked after well they will last much longer than cheap alternatives. It’s not hard to see why the rich mid-brown shade of ‘conker’ is our most popular, although other colours are available. There’s also a range of coloured threads for the stitching, and another option is to have your initials, or a symbol, embossed into the leather. Just ask if you would like to know about these individual features, as it’s not practicable to include all the choices on our website*.

As a business, Tanner Bates shares many of our own values of quality, sustainability and customer service, so their straps are the perfect complement to our watches. In fact, every new Pinchbeck watch is delivered in a handmade leather wallet from Tanner Bates (another Harold Pinchbeck exclusive).
